Design Awards 2020
The American Institute of Architects, Birmingham Chapter exists to recognize excellence in architectural design by architects. These awards increase awareness of outstanding architecture and honor architects, clients, consultants, and contractors who work together to improve the built environment.
This year the jury was held virtually in Boston, Massachusetts where a jury of five qualified architects reviewed, contemplated, and discussed each entry. See below for more information about our rockstar jurors!
The Merit Award is presented to a project that meets the jury’s requirements for design excellence.
The Honor Award is the highest level of recognition that AIA Birmingham bestows to firms for projects displaying exemplary design that exceeds the jury criteria.
2020 has really changed the game, and our Design Awards program transformed too. Our commitment to celebrating design excellence has stood strong throughout this unpredictable year. In addition to our usual Honor and Merit Awards, we added a People’s Choice Award with online voting to engage the public and Members; there were more than 5,000 votes! Thanks to all who participated.
