The Thomas Jefferson Hotel (later the Cabana Hotel, then Leer Tower) is a 19-story building, formerly a 350-room hotel, completed in 1929 at 1623 2nd Avenue North on the western side of downtown Birmingham. It is well known for having the last rooftop zeppelin mooring mast in the world.
In August 2013, investors purchased the building for $1 million. The $22 million renovation project will convert the building into 96 apartments, with 7,000 square feet of retail and restaurant space.
This tour will count for 1 AIA LU.
