Bio:
Charles Buchanan proved to his parents that he could read by reciting text on billboards during family road trips. Eventually, the Alabama native would help craft those words as an advertising copywriter. Today, Charles is editor of UAB Magazine and an artist whose works, inspired by Birmingham signs and other landmarks, have been featured on HGTV and in ReadyMade magazine. He also is the author of Fading Ads of Birmingham (2012: History Press), a book revealing the stories behind the city’s vintage painted signs.
