Brick Fundamentals (1 HSW) — 10:30 – 11:30 a.m.

The intent of this course is to analyze the ASTM performance criteria for clay brick and identify how it offers durability, safety, and energy efficiency benefits.
 Participants will examine the clay face brick manufacturing process and describe the environmental, health, and life cycle benefits of the resulting ceramic product
 Participants will analyze the key aspects of ASTM performance criteria for clay brick and how these brick contribute to the durability of a masonry wall system
 Participants will define the components of a drainage wall system and explain how it increases energy efficiency and assists with moisture management
 Participants will identify brick orientation and bond patterns and observe how different orientations and patterns affect the aesthetic appeal of a project

Understanding Mortarless Stone Veneer and Other Stone Veneer Products — 10:30 – 11:30 a.m.

An examination of the new Mortarless Stone Veneer category of cladding products as it relates to other types of stone veneers, specifically around the areas of installation and applications.
 Identify the various types of stone veneer products and material composition.
 Understand the attributes of manufactured stone veneer products and installation systems.
 Define the mortarless stone veneer category and installation method.
 Identify key applications and installation guidelines for mortarless stone veneer.

Understanding Poly-Ash Trim and the Other Categories of the Exterior Trim Market — 12:00 – 1:00 p.m.

An examination of the new Poly-Ash category of exterior trim products as it relates to other types of trim, specifically around the areas of installation, longevity, maintenance and sustainability.

 Identify the various categories of exterior trim.
 Understand key attributes of each exterior trim category.
 Define the Poly-Ash category of exterior trim.
 Identify key applications and installation guidelines for Poly-Ash products.
 Discuss the sustainable advantages of poly-ash trim products.

Designing Commercial Projects with Manufactured Veneer Masonry — 12:00 – 1:00 p.m.

  • Proper detailing for MVM/ Manufactured Veneer Masonry
  • Building Code Compliance & Technical Notes
  • Sustainability review and LEED Benefits and considerations
  • Design options for interior and exterior applications
  • High performance projects with proper detailing techniques
  • Review the newest innovations in MVM: Mortar adhered and mechanically attached stone.
