SUMMARY:After-School Design Workshops Open House
DESCRIPTION:Host / Desert Island Supply Company \nVenue / Desert Island Supply Company – Directions \nThroughout October\, architects\, artists and writers are collaborating with the Desert Island Supply Co. to offer a free workshop for kids called Lit Houses. They have been reading stories with a strong sense of place\, and then creating and writing about their own scale-model homes\, landscapes and neighborhoods. The models-in-progress will be on display at an open house (with snacks + drinks) on Wednesday\, October 21\, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.\nThe Desert Island Supply Co. is a creative writing and tutoring center for students in the Birmingham area. The Desert Island Supply Co. offers free writing and creative workshops for students\, ages 7-18\, plus after-school homework help and in-school programs. The Desert Island Supply Co. also serves as a hub for creative community projects and events. More info at desertislandsupplyco.com.
