SUMMARY:Designing in the New Landscape of Work – 1 HSW / 1 IDCEC
DESCRIPTION:Host / International Interior Design Association Alabama Chapter \nVenue / Alagasco Center for Energy Technology (CET) – Directions \n$10 General\, $5 student\, Free for IIDA Members – lunch included – RSVP \nTomorrow’s offices need to attract\, nurture\, enable\, and retain the talent that will drive innovation and bring an organization’s strategy to life. In this new landscape of work\, a human-centered approach is essential. This course will share outcomes from global research that begin with a fundamental understanding of the activities that people engage in when they work. We’ll then look at how these activities can be supported with an optimal arrangement of settings that contain the right mix of surroundings\, tools\, and furnishings. The approach is descriptive rather than prescriptive. Attendees will be able to link research insights with design strategies to provide solutions that answer the unique needs of each organization and its people. \nMary Kathryn German Bio\nAs the A&D Market Manager and Living Office Specialist for Herman Miller\, Mary Kathryn is responsible for consulting on workplace applications\, trends\, solutions and services. With a solid foundation in design and strong problem solving skills\, Mary Kathryn has the ability to collaborate and negotiate throughout the entire design process by providing her clients with extensive product\, planning and specification knowledge. She also consults on issues related to ergonomics\, changing work styles\, and overall drivers affecting the work environment. \nReceive 1 IDCEC/HSWcredit \nReceive 1 AIA/HSW credit
