DESCRIPTION:The ACFA will act as headquarters throughout Design Week Birmingham. Come pick up tickets\, get information about events from our friendly volunteers\, snag some merch and grab a Design Week guide to plan your week. \nThe Alabama Center for Architecture also presents the top 50 architectural projects by American Institute of Architects Birmingham area firms. The exhibit includes projects from unbuilt to social impact and will be on exhibit from Oct. 5th  to 30th\,  Monday – Friday 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM.  There will be an opening reception October 19th 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM during the design Agency open house.

While construction contract administration is an essential service offered by design professionals\, most claims against design professionals now include an allegation relating to negligence in the construction contract administration services. Owners increasingly expect design professionals to protect them from improper performance of the contractor\, or to take risks related to design changes and substitutions intended to modify project cost. This course will explore the risks that design professionals face when providing construction contract administration services. We will identify the sources of these risks and learn how design professionals can mitigate them without compromising public health\, safety and welfare. \n
