SUMMARY:Sponsor Luncheon: YANMAR America / Utilizing Natural Gas to Increase Sustainability (1 HSW)
DESCRIPTION:Presenting: Utilizing Natural Gas to Increase Sustainability (1 HSW)\nFriday\, April 21 \n11:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.\nAlabama Center for Architecture (109 R. Arrington Jr Blvd South)\nFree (lunch included)\nRSVP required to kathryn@aiabham.org — Seating is limited!\nAIA Members ONLY. No sponsors or guests.  \nMix and mingle with one of our newest platinum sponsors\, Yanmar America! The presentation will cover the benefits of natural gas as a fuel source specifically in relation to VRF and combined heat and power systems\, which can be installed in many building applications to increase sustainability. \n  \nMore about YANMAR America\nSince 1912\, YANMAR has been leading the way in the innovation of premium diesel engine products\, all engineered and manufactured by YANMAR. Our founder\, Magokichi Yamaoka’s diesel engine innovation in 1933 was the world’s first commercially viable small diesel engine\, which he designed to ease the work load of the Japanese farmer. By continually focusing on engineering\, YANMAR is able to deliver products that exceed customer expectations and deliver exceptional lifetime value; these include industrial and marine diesel engines\, generators\, pumps\, utility task vehicles\, agricultural equipment\, compact construction equipment\, net cleaning robots\, natural gas VRF systems\, CHP systems and more. \nYANMAR America Energy Systems is the North\, Central and South American headquarters for the company’s Variable Refrigerant Flow and Combined Heat and Power systems. Our team and products are focused on three main things: sustainability\, reliability and efficiency. \nYANMAR’s Variable Refrigerant Flow (VRF) heat pumps use natural gas and reversible air-source technology to deliver heating and cooling at low operating costs to commercial buildings. Users can create zoned comfort depending on the needs of the buildings with configuration options for 2 to 29 zones on one piping network\, and with heat recovery\, buildings can be heated and cooled in different zones at the same time. Benefits include a reduction in overall operating costs by 30 to 70 percent depending on local utilities\, a reduction in electricity usage by up to 90\, a reduction in harmful emissions and lowered system lifecycle costs. \nYANMAR’s Combined Heat and Power (CHP) systems use natural gas or propane to generate both useful heat and electricity for your building. Unlike centralized power plants\, YANMAR’s CHP systems recover energy to provide heat to the building while also eliminating the distribution loss that happens over power lines. The optional Blackout Start ensures that the unit continues to produce heat and power even when the grid fails. Benefits include a 33% or greater increase in efficiency compared with conventional generation\, a carbon footprint reduction by up to 50% and significant cost savings by switching to natural gas or propane. \nIf you’re interested in learning more about our products\, please contact our local representative who will be happy to schedule an introductory meeting at your office with your team. \n  \nContact: \nYANMAR America \nLuke McHugh \nBusiness Development Manager – Alabama & West Tennessee \n678-800-9349 \nluke_mchugh@yanmar.com \nwww.yanmar-es.com \n  \n

There is a large interest in understanding the motivation and main drivers of shoppers. However latest neuro science studies show that 90% our decisions as humans are based on emotions\, these emotion driven decisions are also driving the buying decisions at point of sale. As lighting experts\, we understand that light impacts on people’s mood\, emotion and therefore wellbeing – both in a positive and negative ways .However we realized that lighting and emotion has never been researched in the shop and retail environment from a consumer perspective until now. The results of the limbic lighting study show that lighting is closely related to the wellbeing of the customers and therefore dwell times and individual spending significantly\, in fact 10% if applied in the right way. Limbic lighting is not connected to specific lighting technology\, it is more deeply linked to a better and profound understanding of the shopper and their behavior. This study and course allows architects and interior designers to understand the consumers side of lighting better and enhance shop design according to the needs of the customer target groups \nCourse Format: Instructor-led face-to-face \nNumber of Course Learning Units: 1 \nCredit Designations: LU \nLearning Objective 1: Understand what drives buying decisions of shoppers in a \nretail environment and what this could be used to the advantage of your customers. Learn how Gerry Weber increased sales in a shop by 10% with Limbic Lighting. \nLearning Objective 2: Learn about three different shopper types and the lighting \ndesigns which attract them most. \nLearning Objective 3: Learn about neuroscience and how we are affected as \nhumans unconsciously by built environment and design. \nLearning Objective 4: Know about the right approach and the right tools to apply \ntarget group specific lighting
