SUMMARY:AIA Alabama Council & Alabama Center for Architecture Design Road Trip - Florence\, Alabama
DESCRIPTION:AIA Alabama & Alabama Center For Architecture\nDesign Road Trip & Annual Meeting\nFlorence\, Alabama April 20 – 22\, 2018\n ______\nJoin your peers April 20 – 22\, for the AIA Alabama & ACFA Design Road Trip to Florence. We have lots planned to do and see in the Fountain City. We start on Friday morning with a City of Neighborhoods Charrette in partnership with Design Alabama & Florence Main Street. It is a full day of planning and work\, but what a wonderful opportunity to give something back to the area. Later that afternoon\, we will share the results of the charrette with all attendees at our Product Show\, where vendors can display their goods\, services and products. The evening is open to explore downtown Florence.______\n\nSaturday morning we start early with a trip to the famous Alabama Chanin facilities. We will have a healthy breakfast\, mimosas\, tour the facility and hear from owner\, designer Natalie “Alabama” Chanin. Next\, we are heading back downtown to the Walnut Street Historic District for a walking tour with with local experts. The neighborhood dates back to the 1890s\, although the oldest house in the district was built in 1870. ______\n\nWe will end back at the UNA Design Studio Building where we will have a wonderful lunch while visiting your favorite vendors in the Product Show. Next\, we have have a couple of special presentations. The first presentation is on the renovation and rebirthing of the building that now hosts the UNA School of Interior Design. We will follow that with an interesting presentation on the Jackson Highway Recording Studio.______\n\nWe saved a couple of hours Saturday afternoon for you to visit area attractions before joining us at the Gunrunner Hotel in downtown Florence. After exploring the boutique hotel\, which was a car dealership in its previous life\, we will hear a super panel presentation from some local musicians. Afterwards\, enjoy a jam session\, some yummy treats and your favorite beverages. Dinner is on your own to explore the neighborhood and check out a local restaurant.______\n\nSunday morning we start with biscuits and the AIA Alabama Annual Membership Meeting. After conducting our business\, we have fun morning planned with a presentation on the renovation of the Rosenbaum House\, followed by Bloody Marys and Mimosas on the Rosenbaum Terrace.\n\n______We hope you can join us for this special Design Road Trip.
